Black beauty pageants. Nice. It’s funny that segregation has ‘ended,’ but it seems like black spaces that were lost we never regained in a multicultural mainstream society. Maybe I’m just out touch, but it seems like we need more safe (tolerant, open, anti-racist) community spaces for people to be with each other and create and celebrate and let loose or compete, perform, whatever.
